Default MY06 Recommendations

I've read many posts here already - great forum and thanks from a brand new owner (not even 200 miles yet!).

I'm currently researching an upgrade to the audio system. I will probably have a budget of around $750 unless I find something that makes me want to face the wrath of Household Senior Management.

I'm definately adding Modifry's DCI, a new head unit, and some form of iPod adapter (most likely Alpine for both, but I'm waiting to hear about 2006 models before I pull the trigger...). I already have an iPod.

My question is "what next" with the remaining budget in a MY06?

I have read the FAQ, and saw the recommendations for the different budget levels. My noob question is the MY06 comes with stock speakers - especially the new head rest roll hoop speakers. From what I've seen, general opinion is that stock stereo is still crap. Should I still focus on replacing the front speaks with components, then add an amp, but keep the stock roll speakers?

Also interested in adding a sub at some point, probably in a phase 2, since I don't think I'll have enough cabbage to go around for everything...

Thanks in advance for your input.

Al

$750 is enough for a stage one install -

$110 for a Modifry DCI & wiring harness
$100 for an Alpine iPod adapter
$200 for a good basic Alpine HU
$200 for good speakers, maybe Polk db6500s - you'll have to listen to speakers to see what you like though (I love my Polk Momo 6500s - $300)

Now you're at $610 plus any installation costs and wiring, say $50-100, plus tax. If you install the speakers and radio yourself, you can save yourself some money.

Once you have another $500 or so saved up, I'd add a sub, box, amp, and wires.
