Bump for John on this one. I have the CD400 and am very happy with it. Very clear sound and the appearance is very clean (no jetskis or dolphins on the readouts) which is important to me.

Wish I had paid these prices for it, however...

I'm curious....could someone use an IPOD interface with these? And if so which one would be best? Can I keep my side volume controls and such with having to buy any kind of extra adaptor?

the CD400 and CD500 both have an aux input, so you could use
an MP3 player with them, but there's no Nak ipod interface to allow
you to control the ipod with the headunit. I have a Harman Kardon
Drive+Play ipod controller that I plan on using with my CD400 come
spring.
The CD400 & 500 also support an IR remote, so you can use a
Modifry DCI to retain the dash controls. There are no aftermarket
headunits that I know of that use the dash controls without an
extra adapter.

It does an orange that matches the guages really well, or a combo of green buttons and orange screen or vice versa. the green looks good with the fan LEDs on the HVAC control panel.
