Default Need final advise for Stereo Set-up

I am new to S2ki. All your posts have been excellent. I am glad to find such great info. I am the proud new owner of a 2003 S2000 with approx. 100 miles!!

I have my system nearly picked out. I am really struggling with speaker selection. Please help me pick out both the front and rear speakers. Please also comment on my other selections:

Head Unit: Kenwood KRC-409 (I need a cassette player for occassional books on tape)

CD Changer: Kenwood KDC-C467FM - 6 disc changer - I believe this will fit under the seat. Does anyone know for sure?

Amp: Blaupunkt PA-4100 4 channel - I'm told this will also fit under a seat.

Please help me choose speakers for the front and rear. Which Lucid Audio speaker choices have worked well? Which front Component speakers will work well.

I am looking for clean powerful sound with the top down at 80 mph. I listen primarily to classic rock and jazz. I am hoping to avoid a sub.

All recommendations are welcome.

PS. If you Lucid takes a peak at this post, please let me know what hardware I need to purchase from you.

Thanks in advance

Greg

Good luck getting the CD changer to fit under the seat...'nuff said.

It would take a very small amp to fit under the seat as well. I'm not familiar with that particular amp, and I'm too lazy to look up the dimensions, but if someone told you it would fit because it fits under most other seats, they're in for a rude awakening. The S has a lot of crossmembers running under the seats, so space is at a premium.

Lucid will chime in with some suggestions. More adventurous people have placed the CD player beneath the head unit, where the glovebox would normally be, in the secret compartment, and sveral places in the trunk. Common spots for amps are in the tool well, above the spare tire (or in place of), and above the fuel filler line.

Books on tape? If you have a lot of them then go for the tape deck, otherwise I personally burn my books on tape to MP3 discs and never have to change them. Depends on your situation.

CD changer would be best in the trunk. Easy access go with the stock OEM changer location.

Amp is fine. S600S Diamond Audio door components would be best. Round them off with DA rears. Maybe drop a subwoofer in the trunk bay (cost as little as $200 sub&box with our 10" enclosure).

If you amp, might as well round it off with a Subwoofer

Try Audible.com, They have books on MP3 so you won't need a tape deck.

Thank you for all your help so far. I really appreciate it. I think that I will scrap the idea of a cassette head unit.

I have stumbled upon a Blaupunkt SanFransisco CD 70 unit on sale for $299 that has some extremely interesting features. Does anyone have any experience with this or similar Blaupunkt units?

Here is a link to the unit on the Blaupunkt site for the unit:

Blaupunkt Website

I found it on sale at thezeb.com
TheZeb.com

I plan to take Lucid's advise on Diamond Audio S600S. Which DA model do you recommend for the rears?

Again.... Thank you very much for all the input!

Thanks again for everyone's help. I have purchased the following so far:

Blaupunkt CD70 SanFransisco
Blaupunkt CD Changer
Diamond Audio S600S (Front)
Diamond Audio M351i (rear)
Eclipse 32440 4 channel Amp

I found a place locally that matched all the best prices I could find online.

I was planning on the Blaupunkt PA4100 Amp to install under the seat, however, the place I purchased the equipment highly recommended the Eclipse 32440 over the Blaupunkt. Does anyone have any experience with either or both amps to give feedback. The installation is not until April 12th, so I can change my mind until then. The Eclipse is too big to install under the seats, so I would have need to be installed in the trunk.

I have a stupid question. Where is the "secret" compartment. Is that the small space to the left of the spare tire? Can the amp be installed in that area?

Thank you,

Greg
