Default Need help with Component Speakers..

I purchased a set of the Alpine SPR-17LS speakers. They are the 6.5" components.

I must've spent a good two hours trying to figure out how to mount it.

Sequence of events:
1.) I mount speaker using just the alpine woofer plate, and it doesn't clear the window when mounted.

2.) I cut out the back of the stock woofer bracket, mount the alpine plate onto that, and then mounted the woofer to this setup.

3.) Upon placing the door trim back on, all the clips go on perfectly, with the exception of 1 clip just below the speaker mounted as described in step #2. It has about an 1/8" gap when compared to the other door that I have not yet modified.

It doesn't look bad, the door closes fine, the window rolls up/down fine, I'm just REALLY REALLY BOTHERED about that one clip not fastening.

Am I doing something wrong with mounting these components?

You may have to make a MDF adapter to replace the honda bracket that's slightly thinner. Those are Type-R's right?

Correct. What do you mean by an MDF adapter?

Make an adapter out of 1/2" or so (can't remember how thick it needs to be, measure the stock bracket and go smaller, or I think lucid sells some, not 100% sure though - a quick check of his site should tell you) MDF (medium density fiberboard), make a pattern off the stock bracket, cut it out, mark the main mounting holes, drill them, center mark it, cut out the specified mounting diameter for the midbass, mark and drill mounting holes for the speaker itself, test fit, then paint the MDF adapter, assemble...

I just saw the adapter kit on Lucid's site. I'm gonna give them a call.

I would rather use this than fabricating my own brackets.
