Need help with door lock issue
somehow the tab on the lock button of the driver's side broke a looong time ago separating the metal lock/ unlock rod from the plastic lock/ unlock 'button'. I didn't want to hastle with taking the door apart, but I finally got new speakers, and I figured since the door was taken apart, I might as well fix this as well.
I got the new handle from Honda and installed it, but the locking mechanism doesn't seem to want to cooperate.
The lock/ unlock button will not lock the door unless there is slight pressure on the 'open' handle, but this causes both doors to lock. I can do this from inside the car and by doing essentially the same thing from out side using the key and door handle.
(so for all you thieves lurking in here, I CAN LOCK MY DOORS!!)
What I can't do is just use the lock/ unlock button to lock/unlock just the driver's side door.
I didn't like the looks of removing the locking mechanism since there is little room to even see what is going on back there, although I did shoot some video with a digital camera to see if I could figure it out, but to no avail.
Am I missing something, here? Is there something I need to do to move an actuator or lever or something that might be lock-blocking me?
Please help!!
Thank you in advance.
