Default need help with nakamichi 4001 amp

i connected the 12V termainal to + terminal on battery and grounded it to bare metal body panel, but couldnt get it to work at all. the power light never lit up. the protection light never lit up either. i confirmed the battery was putting out 12V to the amp with a circuit tester.
i also tried on my lexus with much bigger battery and still get it to work. any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you installing this amp in the car or just testing. If you are installing please read thru the FAQ/HowTos on wiring an amp. You will also need fuse(s) and the correct gauge wiring, etc....

Take your time.
