Default Need help with Pac-Audio SWIX!

Hey guys, Has anyone installed this unit on their car? I have a Kenwood Tuner but i can't seem to follow the instructions that are on the Pac-Audio Website...

It says you have to connect the white cable to the "Pin 3"... but what connector is he talking about? the one where the glove box should be? the little box underneath the radio? the ecu? i dont get it...

Also ive heard you have to do a relay to connect the mute button... how is that done?

Thanks allot i would reaaaally appreciate it that way i dont have to pay $75 at the shop... which is more than the unit itself!

p.s. any pics would reaaally help (even though i doubt anyone has any)

In a rush, but check this out:

This is for the older PAC but should give you a general idea. Post back if you need more help and I will dig up the diagrams that came with mine - its works fine. I'm sure someone else will post details before that anyways.

Good luck!

so in other words... you just use the reb (power), black (ground) and white (dash?) wires? and that should do the work? its that simple?

Yes, that is the wiring part of the install. Then you have to teach the remote signal to the unit and install the LED retransmitter.

When I installed my PAC SWI-X, I also needed to use a supplied resistor to make it work properly.

The wire associated with pin #3 is the Green wire with red stripe and is on the harness that goes to the radio.

DO NOT TOUCH ANY WIRE Attached to the little box under the radio

This is the SRS control module....you could potentially set off your air bags and seriously hurt yourself.....possibly fatally.

Did you read this and look at the diagram? It is all spelled out.

The Resistor bridges the green and black wire so that the unit gets a a range of resistances it can read. You don't need a resistor to make the mute button work, you need a relay.
The mute button is a spearate wire on the radio harness and is independent from the rest of the "dash controls." The mute button cannot be programmed, but you could use it for other purposes.
