Very nice to hear you are working on the similar project.

1. If you get a 160 degree view angle camera, you do not have to get a mouse to control it.

2. Infrared camera will be a plus or you may find one that can auto switch from color to blk n white at night. That will work out well too. At night, the contrast of lighting will help you see.

additional ideas:

1. Mounting, you can mount on the bumper where your plates it at. The hollow opening on the top.

2. To elimate your touch pad, you can tap into your reverse light signal. Soon as that comes on, your camera and monitor can come on at the same time.

If you need help sourcing products, I have a company that I can refer you to. They are base locally here in California. Their camera and monitor offers excellent quality.

the touch pad is actually goign to be the mouse control for the laptop. I could really use to get intouch with someone about the camera. I'mr eally looking to take off my rear view mirror and just use the camera. I"m getting very exciteda bout this project. I hope to have the touch pad and the lcd screen mounted by sunday. The camera may have to come later because it may take that long to find a good one.
Thanks,
-Peter
