This is my first time ever building a box and I am by no means a carpenter.

Would it be easier for me to just build it out of 3/4in MDF with a double face? Does anyone have the dimensions for the box?

Too expensive to ship it back to Illinois. Not too mention it takes a month to get there.

I was talking about the dimensions for an MDF box that maximizes the tool area space; like the one that RCHB posted with the 12".

man....isnt that a little unnecessary? Your car must slam. Nice work though.
yes its very unncsesary...
i hear a lot of rattles when i turn up the bass. im going to sell this setup and pick up a single 8 rli-8 when i have time to build another box.

making a toolwell enclosure in mdf will be less time consuming than glassin it. you wont come up with as much volume though, but i think with that 10 it should be fine. brace the hell out of the enclosure. utilize the whole toolwell too, not just the upper paart.

dont know if its safe for jl subs("heard" it wasnt safe), but if your volume comes up a little short, you can always polyfill the box.

I already planned to polyfill the box. I sure hope it's not going to ruin the sub.

Is dynamat easy to acquire locally at a normal audio store?

How heavy is dynamat?

circuit city and bestbuy have it , or your local shop... but your in hawaii so who knows... weight is pretty good depending on what type you get... original or extreme , and how much you put on... a trunk roll as they call is is probably 10-15 pounds.

Sweet, we have Best Buy in Hawaii.

Will polyfill hurt the JL sub in any way? How tight should I pack the polyfill in the box?
