Default New car, alarm issue, need help

I just picked up my winter beater that was nice enough to come with an FM alarm and remote start. It has one of those digital keychains with a picture of a car on it, anyhow the keyfob is showing that the car is running but it is actually not, therefore rendering the fob basically useless. I tried to reset the alarm by hitting the trunk button(previous owner said that should do the trick), but that didn't work, neither did removing the battery from the fob.

Would disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it work?

this is my first experience with one of these things, I was able to find a basic wiring guide/one sheet manual, but it explains nothing about doing a reset.

thanks!!!!!

look up the manual online. it should show you how to delete the transmitter and program an other one. its normally reset through the valet button, so you gatta know where that is as well. not hard at all but it does vary from what company made the alarm
