Default New FRS radio with speaker/mic problem

Hi guys:

I just got a Midland GTX1000 GMRS/FRS radio set for group drives. I also ordered a Baofeng UV-5R speaker/mic that someone recommended for this radio. When I plug in this speaker/mic, it goes hot and is showing a constant transmission on the radio. I can't get it to stop transmitting unless I unplug it from the unit. The earset that came with the radio works just fine, but you have to press the Transmit button on the radio to get it to work. I'd really like the speaker/mic available to hang off my seatbelt so I have easy access to it. Is there some secret to get this Baofeng mic to transmit and receive properly, or is this just a piece of Chinese junk I ordered?

Thanks for any info you can share.

Scott

just figured out there is a speaker/mic specifically for the Midland GXT1000. So to answer my own question, I have a piece of Chinese junk!
