Default New idea for a sub box ... what do u guys think?

Hi everyone,

I'm sure all of your seen sub boxes made to fit in the trunk/tool area of the s2000:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-up-Honda-S2000-SU...#ht_2279wt_1161

I was thinking about building and selling a version of this, but slightly modified-
the bottom will not be enclosed.

This saves weight and also utilizes the bottom of the tool trunk so that there's more volume, thus better sound.

Just wondering what you guys think of this idea, and will the sound quality be affected by not having MDF wood enclosed on the bottom.

my fiberglass "box" takes up that whole area, when i had a false floor w 2 10's, it was left open, and it didn't hit as hard as i wanted, you need to customize the amount of space to the sub/subs that you will be using

The current tool well sub boxes out there does not fully encloses the area. There's still a nice volume of space.

Correction:

The current MDF enclosures do a poor job of utilizing the space.

The DarkSideSubs fiberglass tool well enclosure has 1cu ft of internal volume by adhering to the contours of the well.

It costs more than the cheap MDF enclosures, but, that's the price you pay to play

I actually have one of those boxes from that company and the quality is IMHO pretty freakin good : p I have actually shocked some installation shops when I pull it out to test out subs in the enclosure. It even has beveled on the bottom corners of th box as well. There is room under the box for the jack and the tools but that is pretty much it. If your sub specs don't require more room that that box has, I think personally it was a good investment
