new Pioneer powered subwoofer fits S2000 footwell
OK, its not an S2000 specific product, but it might as well be! This powered subwoofer is designed to fit in a cars passenger footwell. It seems ideally suited to fit, invisibly, tucked into the white foam that sits underneath the carpet. I recently did that with the much larger Pioneer powered subwoofer that this new product is most similar to. That older, larger unit fit, but did create a small, unnoticeable bump at the top of footwell. This new unit definitely won't have that issue.
You can place this thing in the passenger footwell under the carpet, and lose ZERO interior space. This seems like an ideal subwoofer solution, for those that just want decent bass, and no compromises to their interior or trunk.
Peel back passenger carpet, and there is this thick, white triangle shaped Styrofoam thing. Below that is a black soft foam stuff about an inch thick. Cut a rectangular hole in white Styrofoam and the black soft foam large enough for this unit to fit, wire it, mount it (the space under the passenger footwell is sealed, so you can use self tapping screws without worry, and this area is covered with some dynamat like sound deadener, which will prevent subwoofer from vibrating), and you're done. Ez peasy. No worries about heat, as its Class D, won't overheat in this space. Bass frequencies easily travel through surfaces, so no worries that sound will be muffled being covered by carpet.
Pioneer TS-WX010A
Yeah, its 'only' 50W RMS (CEA 2006 certified, so its *real* 50W), but the speaker inside this thing has a 98db sensitivity. So it uses every one of those 50W to full effect. For those that don't haunt the Electronics subforum, a subwoofer with say, an 88db sensitivity would need an amp with 10x as many Watts to generate the same Sound Pressure Level (SPL) as this 98db sub produces with its 50W. Yes, that would be 500W required to produce the same SPL with an 88db sub as this thing does with 50W. But keep in mind this thing isn't designed to make your car go boom. Its meant to round out the bottom end. The predecessor version I used, with the same power level and similar sensitivity, definitely does that. If you don't need to rattle the windows on the car 5 rows back at the light, this thing will probably make you very happy.
Best of all, I was able to tune the door speakers with the built in High Pass Filter (HPF) built into my head unit. So now the door speakers aren't trying to produce those sub frequencies, and sound is so much cleaner now.
Since its only 50W, you don't need to run a thick wire direct from battery. You can run this thing off the fuse panel under the dash. couldn't be easier.
If you mount as I'm suggesting, it also won't be a theft target.
One downside to my suggested install, you can't reach the controls to tweak the settings. So you'd want to tune it first prior to final install. Wire it, lay it in footwell. Tune it. Break it in. Fine tune it. When you got it how you want it, peel back carpet and cut the white foam. Tuck wires under carpet. Place carpet back, and it'll be invisible and take up ZERO space!

Do you happen to have pictures? I'm guessing it's mounted similar to the ND Miata Sub but this one doesn't take up as much space.
Also which head unit did you go with? I'm assuming with this having an Amp I could just use the Modifry harness, head unit, and wire it up.
I know next to nothing about sound systems.

I went with a Pioneer Digital Media Receiver. Short body, no CD. This left space behind in dash for a 90w rms per channel class D (doesn't get hot) amp. All hidden. Amp wired to under dash fuse box.

This might just work behind the seats... maybe run two of them off a pioneer amp... I am running this thing https://www.crutchfield.com/p_105DRA...A8.html?tp=114
But two of those pioneers may take up less room and be lighter.

I was wondering how it might fit behind the seats as well with grand visions of a dual sub setup!
Has anyone tried the Kenwood KSC-SW11 compact sub? It's a smidge smaller than the Pioneer.

What I don't like is that you must keep the remote plugged in or the unit reverts to default values.

There are some old threads of people running that kenwood under the front of drivers seat. Fits and only pokes out a bit. Can't really see it casually looking into car, nor when driving. Hump keeps it in place.
I didn't want any compromises at all, so wanted it to fit invisibly, and not have something that could potentially move around. Hence under passenger footwell.
