Well, it's official. I have my Sony CDX-MP30 sitting in my living room right now, anxiously awaiting the DCI and rear speaker system from Lucid. I'll take pics and post them as I get things accomplished.
Well, I've got some contacts to try and make at Lucid. Speakers and panels are great, stereo sounds awesome and the harness was easy to use. My DCI, however, does not appear to be working. I hooked everything up correctly but this is what happens:
Mode = Mode/ Source - works fine
Volume +/- = Volume +/- - Volume + cycles through Select options (Fade, Balance, Bass, Treble);
Volume - does nothing
CH = FM/AM in Tuner - does nothing
Mute = Mute/ATT - does nothing
Hold MODE + Vol +/- in Tuner = Preset Up/Down - + makes the Preset go down and - makes the volume go down
Hold MODE + Vol +/- in CD = Track Up/Down - + makes the Track go down and - makes the volume go down
Not sure if I got a defective unit but everything else works so I can enjoy my stereo while I get in touch with Lucid.
Lucid/Modifry - if you see this post, please let me know if you can think of any reasons this would be happening that I may have inadvertantly done, such as wrong wire connections, etc. I'm positive I hooked everything up per the directions, though.
edit After re-reading your post, I notice the MUte does not work. That is a simple transistor inverter, not relying on the microprocessor at all, and as long as you have ground, power, and the MUTE wires correct, it would be pretty hard for it not to work.end edit
Check and make sure the stereo plug fits all the way into the radio. The first batch I made I shaved down some of the plastic around the plug to make them seat correctly.
For the second batch I got some slightly different plugs that seemd to fit without shaving, but I just tried some the other plugs in that order and it seems to be hit-and-miss as to which ones fit and which ones need trimming. So take a look at it, and if you have any doubts, you can use an emory board or razor knife to trim away some of the plastic near the plug. I'll post a pic in a few minutes to show you what I mean.
I can tell you this - I have a Sony in my car, and I tested each unit in my car before it went out, but I did not test the stereo plugs, I just swapped the DCI.
I have more wiring harnesses with pre-trimmed plugs if you need it.
Thanks for the prompt responses Lucid/Modifry. I'm out of time this weekend to work on it so I'll pull the deck next weekend and check the fit of the plug.
Success! I pulled the deck this morning and found a bent pin in the INTO harness. Everything works smashingly now! Thanks Lucid & Modifry. You guys rock!
