Nicely done! I too am looking to do a similar mod, i.e., higher quality speakers and maybe tweeters, without changing the head unit. Along this line, I have on back-order the Sony SX-V1631 (don't know how long it will take Crutchfield to deliver).

Thanx for the feedback again.
I ran to my garage and took the doors apart......
I realized the baffles were touching the window rollers when rolled down.

Just followed Shayne's advice and bought the Polk 602's; installed easy and they sound great (especially at higher volumes). Thanks to Shayne for his original post on the Polk's.
That's it; I am now finished with sound system upgrades and am ready to move on to performance mods.

BTW....does anyone have any feedback on these speakers?
I installed a pair of Polk's new EX365 speakers this afternoon. These speakers are a replacement for the now discontinued EX602a's. They feature a rotating lens to focus high frequencies toward the listening position. The install was identical to Shayne's using the Metra adapters and drilling the plastic baskets. The sound is a noticeable improvement over stock with much less audible distortion.
Anyone able to give more details on the install? The Polks fit right in the doors with no cutting? Sounds like only need to drill 1 hole in each right.
Any insight or addl details appreciated.
