It is entirely possible that the wrong wire was connected to the lead to the antenna amplifier at the base of the antenna. This is the smpton of that oversite. What is AM anyhow? . I havent wsed it in a year.

Is the AM amplifier on the stock antenna powered? See my webpage for which wire in the harness...

I don't understand... I used the harness and connected everything...I remember that the antenna hookup was seperate from the other wires anyway...

The antenna has a separate amplifier for AM reception (the antenna is FAR from optimal for AM receptin due to its short length). For practically ANY AM reception, you need to power this antenna. On the wiring harness, there's a wire labeled 'antenna'... connect this to 12V.

My 9835 does the same thing. I can only get one AM station. I dont really want to take apart the console thingy again, almost broke every clip off the radio door trying to put it back in!!

But thanks for the heads up MacGyver! At least I know I can fix it when Laker games are back on the air.
