O.T. Home Theater Help, pls.
I have wired our new bedroom up and hopefully it'll be very cool. Ceiling mount 42" Philips plasma. 22 feed of hdmi cable run through the walls to connect it.
Here's my problem: I need a moderately priced a/v receiver that has either dvi or hdmi out. If it up-converts the signal it'll be a bonus but not having upconversion is not a deal breaker.
I don't want to spend gazillions on this unit if I can avoid it - if there is something in the $500 to $1000 range I'd appreciate any tips.
TIA!

Do you have component inputs? If you don't mind using those(fine for HDTV), you could get the Onkyo I got a few months ago for $542: http://store.yahoo.com/authorizedele...ontxinst1.html
It does do upconversion for SD inputs and has component video switching. It's THX, has OSD, etc, etc... Just don't bother with the auto level setup. Use your own dB meter + Avia.

I have the 701 and like it. The TV does have component in but since the wall is sheetrocked and painted now I'd really like to go hdmi (best case) or dvi with an adaptor if possible. Thanks for the tip - that's a great deal on that receiver!
