I was wondering if anyone knew what the wattage for the OEM headrest speakers are. Anyone think it's a good/bad idea to hook them up to an amp?

 

If you want to toast them, sure. They are nothing more than glorified tweeters, and will burn up in short order. Dont do it.

 

I believe I bought a four channel amp for nothing. I guess the lucid rear speaker setup is an option I could go with...or maybe a sub. Not too fond of the S-pods. Thanks for your input NFR

 

No problem, and FYI, the SPODS are the best way to get sound from the rear bar none.

 

I believe I toasted them with the aftermarket head unit so when I put my amp (75*4) in we replaced the tweeters with Memphis 1

 

Yeah, the Spods probably provide the best solution for sound, but I just like the hole in the loop. I also thought about buying the headrest speakers and switching out the tweeters, but I wasn't sure that you could do that with them. I really do like the look of those. But now, after looking at some 5.25" speakers...I think I just might go with the lucid rear speaker adaptation. It might be overkill...but I'm thinking it should only help the sound. Thanks you guys. I was just thinking about something. I got the polk/momo component set, and the crossovers allow for bi-amping (dual input) the tweeters and the woofers. Would it be a good idea to use the four channels for just those? Or run single input for the components and use the other two channels for a set of rear speakers? I know it'll provide more power per tweeter and woofer if you bi-amp them. but I don't think they need that much.

 

I have an 07 and it came with the headrest speakers (2 on each hoop). I have the OEM headunit and wanted to know if I can run the lucid speakers and these headrest speakers together without cutting up harnesses (does it just plug n play)??
