Default OEM Headrest Speakers

Just as the title states...I'm looking into getting an aftermarket headunit over the summer and I'm wondering if the OEM Headrest Speakers (factory option) are compatible with aftermarket headunits. I'm not big on doing lots of mods like installing my own set of aftermarket speakers and this would be a good option for me...I'm not looking to upgrade the quality of a system but would enjoy a little more sound especially w/the top down

thanks in advance for the help

Yes sir, all aftermarket headunits have wires for front and rear speakers. So you can easily just hook up your rear speakers to the rear speaker output wires coming out of the headunit. You will have to run your own wiring though which isn't hard at all. I ran my rear speaker wire through the center console and behind the panels behind the seats, and nobody would ever be able to see them.

^^Like suzuka said, should be an easy thing to do and most aftermarket head units carry plenty of connection space for different components. The S is the first car I have ever done all the work on and its been a great learning experience. I changed out my OEM unit and speakers for an all new setup and learned and had fun with it all.

Good luck!

It sounds to me like the OP has the rear speakers and is looking into a head unit swap. If that's the case there's no need to run wire.

But he didn't say if he already has the speakers, or if he is going to buy them.

Anyways, if you have the speakers already and they are hooked up, then no you will not need to run any extra wiring. If you don't have any rear speakers yet, then yes you will have to run them.

yeah I don't have the speakers yet but if I were to buy it from H and A Accessories I'm sure the kit would come with everything...running them would be a problem...I love to run and tuck stuff...did it for my gauge install, radar detector, etc..that's not an issue

but does everything come w/that kit for $400?

I would think so, especially for the price. All it is pretty much is the little speakers inside of the housing that hooks to the back of the seats. So you don't really need anything else other than to do the wiring from the speakers to the actual headunit.
