Default OEM headunit is crap!

so this is my second s2000...i've always been more of a 'go' type of guy rather than audio or show stuff. just recently my OEM headunit on my 07 started skipping when playing CDs. So i got an Alpine CDE-100 for $99(yes i know its a very basic entry level model). even though i still have the OEM speakers...the sound quality is NIGHT and DAY difference with the Alpine unit. much more clearer. the front USB port is handy as I have flash drive with my music on it.

k..thanks for listening..

I agree about the OEM head unit. I wanted better sound and ipod interface w/o a lot of money and found it with the Alpine CDA-105 ($199.00). I also installed Modifry's DCI interface and SCV connection. I finished the install a few hours ago and was amazed at how simple it was, I thought for sure I had forgotten something. Took me just over an hour to get it done and it sounds worlds better than stock. Next, new speakers......

Once you put new speakers in it will be even better.

HU and Speakers were the first thing I did to my S. I am glad Honda was cheap with the radio and not things that are harder to upgrade like the engine and tranny.

Interesting. I never had "problems" with my head unit on my '05. I simply wanted USB and bluetooth connectivity and better sound.

Quick question on that... did you use the DCI connector or the PnP version for Alpine? If DCI, was it the wired or IR?

Thanks!

If a head unit is compatible with the wired DCI then use the wired DCI.

If you're going Alpine then definitely get the PnP harness.
