Default OEM s2k head unit in an '00 Accord... problems?

Ok so I got a new head unit and decided to install my OEM one in my dad's accord since it's head unit is broken (it doesn't read CD's anymore). The connectors are the same, so I figured it would be a straight plug-n-play task, and it was. Now that it's installed, I get some wierd problems while driving. When listening to FM, the stereo would randomly switch to AM mode, and when that happens, the buttons become dead. Music would still be playing, but when I try to press anything else, nothing works. No reponse. Same thing occurs when listening to CD's - it will switch to FM radio with dead buttons, then a few seconds later it'll switch to AM. It seems as if it always wants to go to AM radio. Why? The only way to actually get the stereo working normally again is to turn off and on the car, which is very annoying. Can anybody help me out? Are our head units not made to work properly with an Accord? I know for sure that the head unit was 100% okay when it was inside my s2k. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

i put a stock s2000 headunit into an accord, and there were zero problems what so ever.

perhaps there's a wire lead going from the accord into the s2000 deck that might tap the dash controls. i haven't looked into what pins on the s2000 deck correspond to what wire, so you'll have to do research on this. this would be my only guess as to why the deck would change like the 'MODE' button was pressed on the dash controls.

good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to disconnect the audio controls on the steering wheel and see what happens from there.
