Default OEM XM and Aftermarket HU?

So my 2007 S2000 had XM from the factory (dealership...whatever)... The OEM headunit works fine, receives XM Radio, plays perfect.

I am installing a Alpine DVA-9861 (and NVE-N872A), which is 'XM Ready' but does anyone know if the OEM XM 'brain' will work with an aftermarket Headuint? Do I need to buy the Alpine XM/Sirrus 'brain' - or is there a wiring adapter that will make the OE unit work?

Alpine seems to make two 'brains':

KCA-SC100 - Which is for Radio only.

or

SIR-ALP10T - Which is for Traffic and Radio

Now... I'm not set on having the traffic, so if I can get away with using my stock 'brain' I will. If not, I suppose I'll have to decide if it's worth the extra $ for the traffic or not.

TIA
