Question ok thanks guys heres my system specs...

im hoping for a nice system sound...so here it is! I have a eclipse amp 50x4 4 channel brand new, 50x4 pioneer head unit probably 3 years old, inifnity speakers up front i think whatever size stokc fronts are and 65-70 rms, lucid rear speakers with the $170 kenwoods? i think. ok system?

also should i buy a new head unit?? will there be a diff if i got an alpine 9851 or something? Finalyl so all ym speakers have to hook up to amp or does amp hook up to head unit?

All I can tell you for sure is that you run RCAs from the HU to the amp, then speaker wire from the amp to the speakers.

Copper is copper. So long as the gauge is correct for the length of the run, I don't think there has yet been an objective, double-blind test that has shown a lick of sound quality difference between Radio Shack or Home Depot generic speaker wire and $1000 a foot super-high end stuff.

I would recommend 16G wires for the speakers, to be safe. The stock ones are like 22G and I dont think they are rated for 50WRMS of power. They might get hot. Dave knows a lot about this....apparently his idea of fun is melting wires and plugging woofers into outlets .

I would think twice about hooking the rears up to the amp. They might be a little strong. What I am going to do in my system (granted I have S-pods instead of the panels) is amp the fronts to 50-75WRMS and run the S-pods off the HU's 18WRMS. The difference should create good fill.

Dont forget WD-40 or KY for pulling the speaker wires into the doors.
