Default Question on set-up

Would it be possible for me to add a amp to the factory head unit if I was to just use either the left or right channel as a input. I am looking to just upgrade the factory speakers to components and put some rear speakers in, and hook it all up to a 4-channel amp in the trunk. A Head Unit will come later but just looking to do this for right now. Is this possible? Would it work and sound decent? Pleae don't just tell me how you think I should just get a hu. THanks

It can be done. You will need line level imputs into the amp (or line level converters.)

It WILL sound better with a new HU, but it can wait. The speakers (amped) will make a MUCH bigger impact.

To make life a LITTLE easier down the road, you can pull the RCA's while you are wiring the new speakers. Then just hook them up later when you get the new HU.

It can be done. Just as ruexp67 said with a line convertor. But its one of those things... crap into an amp = crap out of the amp.. signal wise. You should think about getting a new HU first.

Was there a reason you wanted to keep the stock HU?
