Default Only took a month with the stock system

I want to know if I upgrade my head unit, components (really considering MB QSD-216) powered by an amp, and one 10 or 12 in the trunk, will I be able to enjoy my music comfortably with the top down?

As it is with the top down at freeway speeds I have to be near max on the stock system to hear anything... and even then it is lacking.

You have better ears than I do. I'm more of the 30-35 level with the topdown @ 70

Really my question is if the 6.5" MB Quart QSD speaker will fit in the doors

If you upgrade the system as you mentioned, you will definitely be able to hear it clearly with the top down.

Also, with just a head unit swap you can get better performance out of the stock speakers, some people fine that sufficient, I don't, but I am more of an audiophile.

Good luck.

Perhaps I can shed some light on this subject, as I just recently replaced my entire stock speakers & headunit because I was only able to hear the music faintly when on the highway with the top & window down. I did it piece by piece to see when I could stop. The stock HU got replaced with a Sony, decent mod, but nowhere near loud enough, then in came the Alpine Type R door speakers at 100 RMS...now it was loud and clear, you could hear the music topdown on highway at comfortably, but I needed something a little louder, so then in came the Alpine MRP F450 70X4 amp. With the addition of the amp, it is about twice as loud and clear as before and at highway speeds you can now not only listen to your music comfortably, but also loud. For most people, this would be enough, but I figured, since I already installed the amp, I might as well include the sub, so I finished it off with an Alpine Type E 250 watts RMS sub. Now, I it sounds great and loud while highway cruising topdown. The only thing is, if you leave it that loud for an hour or two, the amp starts to overheat and cuts out on you.

Where did you install the amp? Over the gas tank?

I had Mb Quart Reference components and discus 6x9s in my M3 powered by a Kenwood 280 watt amp, and two jl 10w3v2s powered by an kenwood 800 watt.

I just placed the order on the QSD 216 6.5" component system for the S2000. We'll see how that goes.
