i'm considering the 9831 because i like the look & features - plus i figure there is a reason why so many s2k owners have alpine HUs. plus, i have a hookup at alpine and can get it for wayyyy under list price.

my question refers to the sound shaping of this HU: how good are the sound shaping controls? I read the specs on the alpine site but words are just that - words. i want to hear what owners have to say - treble, bass, crossovers, hi-pass/low-pass filters - are you satisfied with your purchase?

also - how is the sub volume control on this HU? i currently have a clarion 745mp3 HU sitting in the house (from my rsx trade-in) and i might put it in the s2k. the best feature about this HU is that the sub control is a separate button on the HU - no scrolling thru menus to adjust volume, etc...eventually i'd like to add a sub to the car and don't want to get the 9831 if it's a pain in the ass to get to the sub controls...

Its a great headunit, and much more than the s2k will ever need. I can get it for 260.
