You're going to CES? I'm interested in small subwoofers, i.e., anything with an outer diameter less than 10 inches. Can you report back about any new model announcements in this size range? I think that would be of interest to many S2000 owners.
Thanks.
Thanks.
damn, I replied here but it was when s2ki crashed... instead of re-writing it i'm going to sum it up.
stock hu output is less than 2v, amplifying to 9.6v (if the amp your feeding it to can handle that high voltage of a signal) still = a junk audio source, even though the signal is stronger you're only as strong as the weakest link. ie.You can't make a record sound any better just by throwing more power at it.
To sum it up even further, nfrs2000nyc was correct. garbage in, garbage out.
That being said, you can still use the stock hu with LOCs to an amp and have a good sounding system. It just won't sound AS good as it could sound if you have a hu with a higher pre-amp out voltage.
Also, a lot of people are confusing MAX HU power with continuous. It might say 40watts per channel, but more than likely it's about 12. Average wattage for a stock hu in most cars is about 6w/ch.
Thank you.

ummmm, that is such a vague subject. there are sooo many companies who make 8" woofers. any particular "company" i should look at for you.
I'm not sure what it means to be banned but I'll try to answer your question anyway.
I'm interested in learning about any new 8" models that might be announced for the first time at CES. Anything that's already on the market I can probably find out about for myself.
Thanks.
ok guys........
Before this gets bloody... and don't get me wrong I appreciate the debate....what if I get the component system (Infinity Kappa 60.5cs) and mate that to a Clarion dxz945mp?........
Will that work? (and bring forum peace)

it will work. I don't see why it wouldn't work
The only thing though, the headunit (or any as a matter of fact) will not produce enough power for your liking. Put the low power together with road noise and you'll be tempted to turn up the headunit and distort the speakers.
