yup. most people here from what I have seen amp their components. The extra power from an external amp will make a big difference in volume with that speaker set.

ok guys........

Before this gets bloody... and don't get me wrong I appreciate the debate....what if I get the component system (Infinity Kappa 60.5cs) and mate that to a Clarion dxz945mp?........

Will that work? (and bring forum peace)
Absolutely - until the Clarion vs. Alpine debate comes up

And amping anything on top of a decent head unit is just going to make things sound that much better. I have the Infinity References with MB Quart tweeters getting powered by a JL e4300 and have been wanting to upgrade those Infinity's to Quarts as well, but just can't see how it is going to sound that much better. So what I am saying is that if you have a decent head unit sending out a clear signal and an amp coupled with speakers that can handle the juice you're going to be very satisfied with your system

Once you get all that in it will be time to start thinking about some base

The speakers are 2-3/16 in depth. What kind of modifications am I going to have to do to make them fit or will they fit without a problem? I installed my door panels today and will be replacing the stock tweeters that came wwith the '05 doors with the Infinity ones. How good are the stock tweeters?

powered, they will sound whizzy and tinny until you will blow them, then they will sound like garbage. get rid of 'em. The infiniti tweeters are far better and should fit into a MY05 door panel. My focals fit perfectly in MY04.

Plus the infiniti tweeters match the crossover that came with your speakers.

once powered your speakers will shimmer and shine to your delight.

[QUOTE]What do you guys think of these speakers? I currently have Refrences in but they don't realy provide much bass and the sound goes to crap halfway through the volume range. I am not planning on using an amp or anything, (Im not plannin on bumpin or rattling the car apart) I just want my music to sound good. I would appreciate any info or opinions you guys have on these before I buy them.

keep in mind sound quality is a very subjective thing. while there are objective methods to quantify audio quality/fidility, some of us may not be sophisticated enough to differentiate mediocre quality vs. top quality. some of the stuff people are throwing in this forum are based purely on personal bias rather than facts. i would suggest you to take a trip to your local auto stereo store and try out the different combinations of HU/ speakers and see for yourself if the difference in quality justifies the prices.
personally, i dont crank up my volume high and i dont consider myself an audiophile, so upgrading the OEM speakers to infinity 6 1/2" 3 way speakers in the front and polk audio 5 1/2" speakers in the rear was enough for me. maybe i would be happier with a better HU, but i hate to lose the OEM controls and spent extra money. by the way, the OEM speakers are all right, but infinity 60.5 definityly is a worthy upgrade, although it will not add any more bass than the OEM speakers.

hope this helps.
