Default Parts needed for new AMP and speakers

so I just got a new amp and set of component speakers.. I currently have a new alpine head unit as well.. I was reading through DarkKnight's write-up on wiring the s2k.. since that thread is 10 years old, I had problems finding most of the parts listed such as the speaker wire recommended..

im probably going to do the install myself and I am about to buy some Dynamat Xtreme for both doors. Just wanted to get a recommendation on parts I should get as far as amp kit, speaker wire (how long), RCA's, power wire ( I think he recommended Pro-Audio 14 gauge 4 conductor, but I couldn't find that online), battery terminals, and whatever I may have left out. thx!

btw: amp I got was the JL Audio xd200/2v2 and speakers are Focal K2 power 165 KR.

There are numerous threads out there beyond Darkknight's - googling "amp wiring site:s2ki.com" will get you started.
I'm sure there are posts on wire length, etc. Don't be too hung up on wire brand - for speaker wire and power wire there's
not a lot of difference, but buy good quality well-shielded RCAs as poor ones can be a source of noise. To figure out
what to buy, you'll need to plan out your installation - for instance, if you are putting your speaker crossovers in the
door, you only need two conductors gojng from the amp to each door, but if your crossovers are in the trunk, you'll need
four (two to each woofer, and two to each tweeter).
One popular supplier is http://www.knukonceptz.com/.

thx! ya ive seen that knukonceptz website a few times on here but never bothered to visit the site until now.. I was thinking about putting crossover in door but I heard that if water happens to get in door, then it could be a problem.. so im inclined to put in trunk..

My crossovers have been in the doors for about 8 years, and that's with English weather.

Well I got my sound system installed.. I ended up installing the component speakers myself and took car to local bestbuy to install amp and wire up the car.. They also installed dynamat to both doors.. I installed the crossovers in the doors but they told me that a better location in their opinion would be to relocate crossovers under dash on each sides.. Install looks good as they are completely tucked away. Price was decent to install dynamat to both inside and outside metal of interior of door. I ended up getting the Kicker CK8 amp kit from bestbuy and bought a higher end Kicker RCA cable (Qi125)..

I'm wondering if there is any benefit to adding dynamat to outer metal skin of door (part closest to outside)on the S..

Install took about 4 hours with 2 guys.. I sat in the waiting area most of the time watching them do their work. It seemed like a crap load of work and probably would of taken me a lot longer to do ..

The two guys at bestbuy did a very good job and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to that same location. Now i just got to get s spare tire area amp rack.

Thx to darkknight for the Aftermarket tweeter install write up on 02-03.. I agree with him as the tweeter wouldn't sound as good behind the stock tweeter grill. It was a pain in the butt for me to dremel out the plastic on the tweeter pod as the plastic would melt slightly as I shaved it off and it would land on my hand or wrist.

Big thx to everyone else that offered advice in this thread..
