Im 110% positive that it will be a good detector. Whether or not it will be good enough for me to give up my V1....unlikely.

In principle, it would be possible to combine this new GPS integration in the 9500 with the multiple-receiver approach of V1s to provide a the ability to map sources precisely.

(Note that the 9500 has a rear-looking laser antenna, but there's no mention of a second radar antenna, unless I missed something. This means that their "mapping" capability is really only a proximity sensor, not true mapping.)

To do precision mapping, though, would require one of those vehicle-integrated systems, with the antennas on the front and rear of the car (or, probably better, an antenna on each of the outside mirrors) and both able to see in all directions. It would also require much, much better electronics than are in my V1 -- faster and more precise -- plus a GPS. This adds up to big bucks, but, man, what a system that would be! HPH

Ordered mine last week, should get it from Escort around the end of this month..Radar Roy has some good info on Radar Busters
(Also check out his forums for info on all detectors) It's going to be awesome to mark false alerts with GPS..I have a V1 and it falses so much it drives me crazy!!! It's awesome to have arrows and the range is good, but if you live in a urban enviroment, prepare to have some advil even on Advanced Logic mode...There have also been many reports about bad V1 product quality over the last year..I myself like the V1, but this radar detector is going to be the new standard in detection..IMO..Escort always makes great detectors and if the range is as good as the 8500 X50, there's nothing to worry about.

Bad V1 product reliability? This is the first I've heard of such a thing. I've had mine for 5 years and it's been rock solid. I use it every single day.

I wonder if this will work with existing smart cord installs. I am way too lazy to swap out the smart cords in three cars.

They have the manual for the 9500i online:

http://www.escortradar.com/pdf/9500i_Manual.pdf

It looks like the original SmartCord will work with it.
