Default pics of the new stereo

i had meant to photo log the whole install process but i figured it had been done a thousand times over already so why bother. some details about the system-

4 guage power runs across engine bay and down drivers side or car. RCA's and turn on run along the driver's side of the transmission tunnel.

JVC AR7500 head unit
Focal 6.5 components
Boston Acoustic GT-22 amp

amp peeking out from under seat
JVC AR7500
Focal components with tweeter angle mounted in front of door handle
close up of focal tweeters

that's it for now...still debating on adding a sub down the road. i did however split the power into dual 8 guage leads, one for the GT-22 under the seat and another running into the spare tire area in case i decide to add a sub amp.

How do you like the JVC?

I want the JVC avix with the 3 inch screen, but it has no sound editing functions (ie : time alignment, eq with at least 7 bands)

I like the look.

I want the FOCALS!!!

my jury is still out on the JVC. my g/f loves the fact that i can put her picture on the wallpaper (of course it's my S2K right now) and the SD card slot is a pretty cool feature. my biggest complaints about it are the lack of quickly getting to station presets via the HU itself (have to use the remote or go through the menu) and is has a bit of a delay (about 5-8 seconds) in powering up and playing anything at first start up. it does have a 7 band eq, dsp, time alignment (but only if using a dsp field) BBE, and CCC which is kinda nice (i'm still fiddling to decide if i like the BBE or not). 5 volt pre-outs and you can disable the internal amp plus sat radio ready which are all features that drew me to it not to mention a 24 bit processor. sound quality seems to be very good and i love the looks of the HU more so than any others i saw.

loving the Focals but i do need to get back into the crossover and cut them a bit. i set that at 0db cut and they are definitely too bright/harsh on rock/metal music at medium to high volumes so i think a -2db cut in is order and hopefully that will clear them up. don't confuse this with the bright sound of the metal tweets as i ran boston pro's for ages and love the sound a metal cone tweet produces, these just need rolled back a bit.

all in all i'm very happy with how everything turned out! the focals paired with the GT-22 are punchy enough that i'm ok with forgetting about a sub for the time being and i have no issues what so ever with hearing the system at speed with top down musicality of the system is beautiful and now it's time to hop into the theater room to audition some music back and forth between what the car system does as compared to the theater system (b&k, monitor reference).

The jvc i was looking at did not have any of those features, but it does have the 3 inch screen, but that only does not warrant its purchase.

when i had my utopia's I had them set at -2 for the tweets, as the default was way to bright. the gt 22 is a nice amp.

i called focal and they referred me to a local shop here in miami.

waiting for a call back on a quote for the 165 k2p's.
