Pin compatibility- '97- vs. '98+ Honda harness
Longshot question for the gurus here. Here's the situation:
Fiance's '96 Integra has stock radio w/tape deck. My OEM '04 S2k headunit w/CD player currently gathering dust in a closet.
I figured out the Honda radio harness changed around '98, so they are different. Obviously I could buy a '98+ Honda INTO RADIO harness and a '97- Honda INTO CAR harness and solder them together. But I always hate how much extra wire you then have to fold up and cram into the tiny space behind the radio.
So here's the question- if I buy just a '98+ INTO RADIO harness that fits the S2k headunit, can I pull the pins out of the factory car harness on the 'teg and put them in the casing of the new harness? Or are the pins different shapes, non-removeable etc.
BTW I have service manuals for both cars so I have the pinout diagrams.
TIA,
Peter
