Placement of Sub?

I will be upgrading my audio system soon (It's all stock as of now), including the head unit (keeping dash controls with Autoleads PC99-X61), stock speakers, and adding an amp and sub(s). The thing is.. I like my trunk space and REALLY don't want to give any of it up.. so I would like to place the Sub(s) somewhere in the cabin (for lack of a better vocabulary). What do you guys think would be best? I've seen them under the seat, behind the seat - built into the plastic, on the side of the footwells, behind the head rest (will NOT do that), and in the secret compartment (also will NOT do that). I was thinking about having a custom box created to place right where the passengers feet rest, but I'm not sure how much space this would take up and if it will be good placement. Obviously any of these places would not allow me to have a deep sub, but I'm fine with that. I only want one or two 8" subs. Thanks in advance!!
This is probably the cleanest install I've seen. Placed in the passenger footwell and under the carpet. Looks like the amp was placed in the trunk but I'm sure it would be fine under a seat too.

Ah, thats exactly what I want!! Thank you. Does anyone know of any company or home-shop that can make me one of those boxes for cheap? Definitely not $500.. maybe like $100? Also, does anyone suggest any specific shallow-mount sub or amp? I am soon to order a Kenwood KDC-BT955HD (or 958) and Polk Audio DB651s speakers. Thanks a lot!
I've mounted my amp above the fuel tank, and have a Darkside V1 in the boot (trunk) which can be removed in a few seconds if need be.
It all works very well indeed (see my signature for some photos).
