Default Wantin some BEAT!

Ok so i have an 07....hate the sound system in there, reallyyyy need sub(s). I know JL audio makes a sub box that fits down in the tray of the trunk compartment but i really dont feel like paying $680 for it. Does anyone have a good setup with a regular small sub box or anything to that nature?

The ebay sub boxes fit in the tool opening in the trunk perfect, and they are about $75 for a 10 or 12" sub. I would upgrade the whole stereo, not just a sub though. New head unit, door speakers, amp and sub. You will have a much better sound than just bass.

GMK can help you with audio work, but in general, unless you strap a sub into the passenger seat, you won't get good in cabin sound in an S. Some S owners have fabbed subs into the passenger footwell, but that requires some cutting of the tub, and then there's the sub that is molded to fit where the secret compartment fits, but its right by your head...

The easiest option is to go big in the trunk, but that eats into storage space. I like the V1/V2 sub enclosures that fit into the sides of the trunk. - http://www.darksidesubs.com/

If you're just looking for a system that will sound good and have enough full rane and volume, a trunk sub, amp and decent cabin speakers and head unit will work. It comes down to your budget.

If you give these the power they want, you may not feel the need to weigh down the car with a sub and extra amps. I helped Bluegas68 install a set and I was blown away how hard 2x 6.5 speakers pound. In my experience, Infinity thump harder then most I have heard even compared to kicker, JL and others that tend to get acclaim for for their subs.

At one time they were $500+ but now they can be picked up for around $200 and I fell like they stand against anything under the original $500. Some claim they are a bit bright or sharp on the highs but a little EQ and some time to break in should cure that.

as a current sub owner i dont recommend being a penny wise and a dollar stupid. JL spent quite some money to get the best sound from a sub. i was penny wise by making a box myself and buying a walmart sub........ 4 times. i then got dollar wise and bought an alpine type 10in. if in the beginning i would have just gotten the JL stealth box then it would all be cool and only spent that small sum of money.
now for door speakers i do recommend using this company called hertz. their door speakers are like 5in subs. and their highs are amazingly loud. i paid 300 for those hertz component speakers and it was so worth it

As an alternative, you can put speakers behind the seats, like I did. I have received many compiments on the sound in my car and I have not felt the need for a sub. It also gives a great back massage

Unless you're short, I can't imagine having enough room behind the seats for subs.
