I think game systems in cars is about the worst thing a person can do, unless it's a huge vehicle with lots of rear seating, which the S2000 obviously is not.

But to do it right you need to take a few things into consideration.

A) The Playstation 2 needs good ventalation. The trunk is a bad idea unless you can get airflow in there.

B) If the vehicle is moving the disk is going to have read errors and your game play will suck.

C) Swapping disks while in motion should be an option, this makes placement even more difficult.

D) Where do you plan on putting the display? If it's of any usable size it can't really go in the cockpit anyway ...

Now, for cool factor ... you need to get a hard drive in there and use HD Loader. That way you can have nearly 100 games on demand and elimanate issue C. This would eliminate issue B but you'd be picking up an issue of the drive encountering early demise by vibration. I guess you could use a laptop hard drive but the adaptors may be difficult to squeeze into the PS2 HDD bay (much hacking required).

You could also use wireless controllers. Logitech makes good stuff.
1. There is plenty of ventilation in the trunk. And I have one of the originals- the ones that had the overheating problems.

2. Nope. You're wrong about errors and skipping. It only happens on craters that will most likely bend a rim.

3. WTF? You want to swap discs while driving? Why?

4. Dash. Plenty of space.

For the other stuff, I have no idea... I'm not a computer guy. I hate when wrongful information is disseminated.

Would one of hte new slim playstations fit inside the glove box if you trimmed out the edges to slide it in?
Not sure, but the loading of discs might preclude it from being able to be located there without much fuss. But I cannot confirm... my car is still in the shop.

How about waiting till May, then getting the PSP. Then you can store it in the netted pockets in the doors... and play it anywhere

Good to hear you get airflow in the trunk - most are usually sealed better than that.

I'm surprised to see that the PS2 doesn't have problems reading the disk while the unit is in motion. It's designed to sit on a shelf and they didn't include anything to secure the disk while it's spinning like you get in a dash mounted CD player. I guess you got lucky on that one.

Swap disks while driving ... so maybe your passenger could play more than one game? Put it in the trunk and on any substantially long drive you have to stop and go to the trunk to swap games.

How big is your dash display? I wouldn't want anything smaller than 13" probably. For PS2 graphics you loose too much detail and a lot of games use that detail as part of the game play. Also, if it's the display used for navigation I assume it's targeted for the driver seat. Does it have adjustability so the passenger has a good view of it?

And the rest of the stuff is important. I'm sorry you don't understand it. Also, the XBox uses a tray just like the original PS2 model. The new slim PS2 would be better for lots of reason unless you're planning on using a hard drive.

Since you're oblivious, all trunks have fresh air intakes. Duh. It's in case someone gets locked in the truck they can breathe until someone finds them. On the S, it's located just underneath the locking mechanism and to the left as you look in the trunk.

I guess I'm the only lucky one using a PS2 in a vehicle. atsselfonback:

Do you own an S2000? 'Cause you don't seem to know much about it.

Justin, I am not an expert at anything except what I do for a living. I believe you'll get more informative and correct answer/opinions in the Electronics forum. Most that post in there have more info as pertains to our uniquely challenging cabin and such spaces. Good luck on your endeavors.

Edit added: We are in the Electronics forum. I hate when work gets in the way of my S2KI posting.

Ask dave22 about that! We did a night time run top down with Black Nugget in tow. I believe my driving added a sense of realism to NFSU!
