Bought a car from someone last week and it had an upgraded system, but the seller didn't know what was upgraded, just that is cost over $1000. He said speakers, crossover, HU, and maybe more.

I found what seems to be...it's pretty buried an amp on the drivers side in a compartment to the left of the petals. I also see an extra wire coming out of the battery terminal.

Can someone confirm for me is the stock s2000 has an external amp or if the previous owner had this added when they did the install?

The amp looking thing is most likely your ecu, since its to the left of the pedal..

There may be an amp in the car (to account for the extra wiring). But it's almost guaranteed that it isn't in the foot well next to the pedals. You're looking at either...ECU...maybe the brain for an external alarm system. Lo-Jack maybe?

That would be an odd (and very cramped) place to put an amp.

 

What ever you do don't cut the ECU wires..., They did install the brain for my alarm there as well though, is there a dial on the box or any external buttons?
