also, there's a lot of stuff in that FAQ that really just needs to be retired (simply due to the FAQ's age).
i'd love to endeavor the whole rewrite personally, but i know it can't happen. however, give me some sections that lean towards my abilities, and i'll make time to do it. i'm sure i could probably write up (or dig up an old thread) on a number of topics. i know i already have a good chunk in the current FAQ, and a section on demo'ing equipment (that should be updated).
oh, and be sure to give me some reasonable deadlines too, or it might fall into the wrong inbox by accident.

i wrote up an 'update' to the FAQ. a version 2 as it were. it's mostly just a modified, edited, enhanced, version of Mario's.

How about all those ridiculously thick and expensive cables you installers use 
They are basically audio jewelry, theres no need to spend all that money on completely passive hunks of metal, electrons flow every bit as good through "cheap" cable, as long as the gauge and any shielding requirements are met. Wire was perfected fine 1/2 a century ago, for audio frequency transmissions.
All thos buzz words, "zero oxygen", etc, just dont matter.
Doubling or tripling the specification requirements for a certain type of cable that goes x feet, does nothing to improve audio quality. It either meets specifications, or it doesnt . If your speaker is x feet from the amp, the speaker cable needs to be x ga, etc.
It is nice to have good solid bindings and connectors between equipment, since its in a car and all ... but you dont have to spend 50 bucks on a Monster RCA cable to get that.
