Default Time for stereo upgrade.

I cannot take it anymore. I have to do something about the stereo.

Since I am on a budget I would like suggestions and recommendations from anyone.

First option: Upgrade speakers, use existing head unit. I was thinking of installing new speakers in the doors and Lucid's rear panels. Does anyone have this, what speakers did you use? Is it enough of an improvement?

Second option: Head unit, and upgrade speakers. Same as first option, but with a head unit. Right now looking at maybe an MP3 player. Preferably, a head unit that is easy to install, since I will be doing it myself, so any hints are appreciated.

I will not be adding any subs, but may include an amp for the speakers if recommended.

My last car had a Bose stereo, and I miss it. I want something clear but loud. I would rather not replace the head unless it is significantly better.

Brands, and model numbers would be great, also best place to purchase would be helpful.

Thanks for taking the time. Any responses would be great.

Here's a couple of my guides that will help:

For radio removal (and info):

www.lucidautomotive.com/guides/radio

For Door Speaker installations:

www.lucidautomotive.com/guides/doorspeaker

Adding a new radio and speakers is the easiest way to improve your sound quality. You'll benefit from the increase in power from the new head unit without the need to upgrade your door speaker wires as you would need to with an amp.

Your dash controls are saved by using a PAC SWI device. There are 2 models SWI-3 and SWI-X. #3 is easier and cheaper to install (I'll put up instructions on that soon). If you need one let me know.

Do your upgrade in stages. Perhaps the door speaker 1st, then the head unit and the rear speakers. For most people this is enough. Its fairly easy and you won't have to tear apart your car in the process.

If you have any more questions, drop me a line. I'm always willing to help!
