I don't think I'm going to have the space/money for a sub right now.

Those are exactly my immediate goals. I've been poring over the Car Audio And Electronics 2003 directory (June issue), looking for a set of components that will go low and handle lots of power.

My plan is to put the amp in the trunk well that is now home to the tire changing tools. If I'm measuring correctly, that space can fit an amp that's 17 or 18 inches long.

I see that the RS6Cs can take up to 200 watts per channel. For that the KX800.2 would be perfect but it's 25 inches long!

Some other brands I've been looking at are: U.S. Amps, PPI and Rockford Fosgate. They all have powerful models that take speaker level inputs. Then again, a high quality line output converter shouldn't add too much coloration to the signal path and it lets you choose just about any amplifier you want.

Some other component sets I'd like to audition, besides the Kickers, are the a/d/s 346IS, the Alpine SPX-F17M, the JBL C608GTI and the Phoenix Gold Titanium 6 Elite. All of these are supposed to play very low and handle lots of power. I've already had an opportunity to hear some Z6s in a Boston Acoustics demo car. They sounded excellent.

Don't mean to take over your thread but it reminded me of what I'm trying to do.

Thanks.

That was the plan I had in mind. SAw some of those amps yesterday at the dealer, they are HUGE! He is trying to now put me on a Helix (sp?) amp b/c they are smaller...
