Protecting door speakers from the elements
What methods have some of you used for protecting aftermarket door speakers, when the OEM baskets can't be used? Pictures and product linkes greatly appreciated.
I tried some thin plastic baffles that were barely larger than the speakers. Problem was, they're sealed and severely crippled the bass output from the woofers (in this case, JL Audio ZR650-CSi components). I could cut a large hole in the bottom of it, and vent the back similar to the OEM baskets. But, I'm curious if anyone out there has some better ideas.
It's worth noting that there's not much more than 1/4" clearance between the back of the speakers and the white plastic "knob" on the window when down.
Thanks in advance!

On a serious note: I'd be interested in finding something that would work for my Diamond Hexes... I think I have even less clearance behind the speaker than you though
I bought some xtc foam baffle to protect from element. This is how I put it in, with some commentary on a better way to do it:
