Putting my amp in tomarrow sub wiring ?
I just got my amp today and my flat amp rack is suspose to be here tomarrow. So i going to put all this in,my question is. Im running the jl 500/1 amp.I just bought a plexigalss enclose for 2 kicker s8l7 subs.So im going to go ahead and hook the speaker whire up to the amp.But since this is a mono amp im not sure how to go about doing this.In the manual from the amp it says if im running 2 subs just to hook up the speakers the the + - + - on the amp and internally the amp is wired for the subs to run parrell. Can someone confirm this i dont want to blow this amp up.Also i have a question about my wiring im running 4 gauge back to a fused dist.block then 8 gauge to the amp but my ground is still 4 gauge is there anything wrong with this? And on the amp since its 500/1 so ill be pushing 250/2 at what ohm??? Sorry for all the newb questions its been awhile since i messed with systems. Thanks seth
If the manual tells you how to wire it, why are you questioning it? If it blows, JL owes you a new amp. Just make sure to calculate the load on the amp prior to turning it on. As long as the load is within the specs of the amp, it should be fine. I would just give JL tech support a call if you have any questions, because then if it still blows, JL is still on the hook. If someone on here is going to give you advice, they dont want to accidentally give wrong advice. I am not willing to take that chance.
Follow the manual. If you still have questions, contact the manufacturer, as they will have better info than anyone on this site.

actually, i think it goes beyond spelling and more into the whole realm of grammar.
seth, you really need to give us more info about the subs before we can help. are they dual voice coil (DVC)? single voice coil (SVC)? what is the impedance (ohms) for each coil? etc.
the most you'll get from a JL 500/1 will be 250 Wrms per speaker, assuming the amp produces it's rated output. if the amp produces more, it will most likely still be 50/50% to each speaker.

I'm sorry about the spelling.I'm ussually in a hurry and don't even pay attention.Well look's like I will just call JL to be sure of everything. Thanks for the info.BTW They are dual voice coil 4 OHM subs. Thanks,Seth
don't bother calling JL, they've got the info online.
