I have a s2000 ecu /computer that i have a question about, where i can finish my swap .my question is the vin number stored in the ecu .someone told me i would need the vin to by pass the anti theft ,which i do not have. i bought it of ebay,and the guy could not supply the vin .any info would be helpful thanks

 

I don't think there is any "VIN" number stored in the ECU. You need to take it the dealer (flat bed the car?) so they can program the immobilizer to accept the key code.

 

I'm also pretty sure the VIN is not in the ECU. It is the key code that matters.

Just for clarity - the VIN is in ECM in later years, '04 and '05 I'believe, but not the earlier ones (I've seen it). But I have no clue if the ECM uses the VIN for anything other than to allow the emissions tester to confirm the ECM is the right one for the car.
