Q about the need for sub
#1
It seems logical that more powerful or larger speakers require higher power to produce a given amount -for lack of a better word in my vo-caab - of bass. (I said logical) Therefore, upgrading speakers, which is usually to higher power or larger diameters, could potentially produce less bass with the stock head uint at equal volume level.
I noticed this while playing with FAD, as the stock speakers in my 2002 produce a deeper bass than the 6.5 polks I just put in the rear. I have a so-so baffle thing going on in there fyi.
I am not a bass freak, but I wouldn't mind it either, so I ask: If I upgrade my fronts to some polk components that I already have, should I worry about losing bass and having to also add a sub?
I think my current set up is marginally acceptable, and I don't want to tear up the door just for a bass comparison test.
Your insights will be appreciated

There's really no SUBsitute for a sub. It would be easier just to add an amp and sub or an all in one. To really get the benefit of components you'll need to rewire the doors and amp them.
