Ok, hands on Panasonic CQ-DFX972U, Sharp looking unit, great display, lots of features. Wheres the MP3 ID3 tags? The catch with the other gem - Ken MP919 is the Dmask face hitting the door. I guess you gotta give on something, but these are SO close to having it all

Out of all Mp3 decks out there I've seen I think these are tops. Any opinions?

lucid,

I'm looking for info on the new pioneer unit (I think it's DEH-9400mp) something like that. It plays mp3, wma, etc. I have seen the new 8400, but the fold down face might hit the folding door. The 9400 only has one face. I was wondering what your impression of this model is.

Damn, I just went to the pioneer site... that's a beautiful unit! I wish more players out there had wma support. I converted my entire CD collection with windows media player. I have 200 cds+ sitting on a 40 gig drive. I'd hate to have to re-rip all those because my car player only supports mp3, so I'm waiting for wma support in a decent player.

The new MP3 deck from Alpine is supposed to be pretty good. Access time is fast and has support for the ID3 tags and more. It wouldn't be out for a few more weeks though.

iPod.

5 or 10 GigaBytes (800-2000 songs, no need to burn CDs), great display and easy to use interface, syncronizes your MP3 collection with your computer via FireWire so it's fast, and it's not stuck in your dash so you can use it with headphones or jack into any stereo.

Now I just need to find a way to set up a hard-wired aux input to a Sony headunit that I can jack it into.
