Question about a "found" connector in the rear of the car
I just finished installing new Sony XS-V1621 speakers in place of the stock ones. Real nice. Didn't have to cut baskets or drill, they dropped right into place sith totally minimum hassel.
While installing speakers, I decided to hard wire my radar detector as well. When it comes to the electrical systems of late model cars, I worry alot about screwing something up without knowing it so I take a simple approach to doing things like this. I know that the accesory outlet is a pretty safe thing to fool with and it has a positive lead and a ground, so I attached the wiring for the detector there. In the process of getting to the accesory outlet, I removed the panel behind the driver seat. Upon removing the panel, I found an un connected four pin male connector. My first thought was OMG this is to good to be true, these may be a connector for rear speakers! Some how I think that IS to good to be true. This connector has a pale green wire, a red and black striped wire, a yellow and black striped wire, and a black wire attached to it. Does anyone know what it may be for? I would really like to know. If it is for speakers, I'm calling Crutchfield tomorrow!

I am almost positive that you found the connector for the hard top rear window defroster. I didn't check the color scheme, but I saw Wade connect the hard top's wiring harness to that connector behind the driver when he did my install. It leads from there to the upper left behind the driver. With the install kit there's a place right there upper left behind the driver's seat to plug and unplug the wire from the hard top to the plug in the car.
Its the power and switch wires for the hardtop defroster. When the defrost is plugged in, the top switch is disabled so you cant
accidentally put the soft top up while the hard top is installed.
no such luck on the rear speakers.
