When I put the new fuse in, the radio started working again without having to punch in a code. So all-in-all, my issue was solved without too much drama.
I'm glad you posted this information for future reference. We can now know that the circuit that powers the acc plug and shares with the radio is to "power" the radio. Another fuse and circuit provides the power to maintain the radio memory.

...And we also now know that it's not a good idea to stick your key into the accessory socket, unless you have spare fuses on hand. We can also infer that the little rubber handle on the key is good for something. HPH

Lesson learned! The key I was using was a house key, which did not have a rubber end. Would this make a difference?

Next time, I'll just use something plastic or wood.

Abiding Dude, I'm everything worked out for you as well. Thanks to you, mine is fixed as well.

Only if you were grounded, I imagine. The rubber end, like on our Honda keys, would be a good insulator. But, if you had a bare foot in, say, a puddle, that house key would have probably given you an interesting surprise. HPH
