questions on OEM car alarm
You need a couple of hours and the flexibility of a ten year-old. Fortunately, my son was the right age a few years ago when I put the alarm in. It is entirely a plug in operation. All of the connectors fit the original harness, so you don't need to cut any wires. This is it's main advantage over aftermarket units. You need also to pull the driver's seat out. The oem alarm itself is a basic alarm that signals when the doors or trunk is opened without authorization. Add-ons include only a hood switch, but using this hood switch connection, you can add on all sorts of detectors, as long as they signal an alarm condition by sending a ground at this point.
you can get the kit from Jeff at Hardtopguy.com or handaaccessiories.com and save a bunch of money. It's not hard install--takes a couple of hours but as fmah says---there are a few connectors up under the dash that you'll be upside down to get to. The instructions are very well done and very detailed and easy to folow
