Hey guys, I've had this stereo for a while now and it's always bothered me I can't fully close my radio door with it. The radio door will not click into place and ends up springing back down while the car is parked (especially if parked on an incline ).
Some notes:
* I originally fixed this issue by trimming the innards out of my radio door. I got sick of it because the door is always down and looked ugly. I have my "signed" AP2 radio door now and there is no way in hell I am going to cut it up.
* Radio door does not close with the radio's face removed either.
You do realize that although your subject line says "Quick Question:" you necer actually asked a question anywhere in your post, right?
You may be able to take the head unit back out, pull the brackets off, then use a dremel or keyhole file to turn the holes in the brackets into slots that will allow you to mount the head unit deeper into the dash.
You'll probably want to use lockwashers so the bracket screws won't slide along the new slots and let your head unit push back out. This typically would happen if you have a huge rat's nest of extra wire harness behind the head unit.
(It seems that installers frequently leave what seems like several *feet* worth of extra length in the harness rather than trim the harness down despite the fact that the factory harness length is usually plenty to let you pull the radio out far enough to plug and unplug.)

You're right. Not 1 question in my original post.
Well, it seems you got what I was asking though and thanks for the suggestion. I'll take it out and see what I can do about the 4 mounting holes.
Yeah i would suggest modifying the brackets to let the radio sit farther back. other than that you could try to carve out the back of the cover and then use bondo/fiberglass to make it look nice
