Default Radar Dertector Positioning

Where do you place your radar detector to get optimal detection and accessibility to the power oulet? I've seen the mounted all around the cabin and even hung from the convertible top frame.

For the s2k, it's best to hardwire. Having a wire run all the way across the middle of your car looks tacky, is distracting and could potentially be dangerous.

I have mine mounted right below my rear view mirror, hardwired up through the pillar and into my fusebox in the footwell.

Mine is in the same spot! Not hardwired though. The line goes under my carpet mat to the back of my seat. I'd like to hardwire it though.

Hardwire that thing! It sounds like more work running it through the carpet than hardwiring it

Version 3.826 Valentine One Radar Receiver---hard wired.

Mounting on the dash like the owner above doesn't seem like it would be a good idea? The rear laser/radar sensor is going to be blocked. A clear, unobstructed, view of the road ahead and behind is the key.

Check out radardetector.net or radarbustors.com for more details

Yeah, It'd be nice if the mirror mounting was more clean. Wasn't there a mount before where they put the V1 in the secret compartment then cut a hole and filled it with glass? They then use the mini V1 and attached it into the mirror. That setup obstructs the rear as well, but was considered the best setup.

With radar dectectors being illegal in some staes, I would imagine it be hard to hide the thing if you were to be pulled over. In the position next to the steering wheel, it was really easy for me to slip it right out before the cop came to my door (he judged my speed according to experience, not radar).

That owner's radar detector doesn't have a rear sensor (atleast i dont think so). I believe only V1 and the escort has em.

See the bit where the flash has flared off from!?
That's the rear viewing portion.
