Where do you place your radar detector to get optimal detection and accessibility to the power oulet? I've seen the mounted all around the cabin and even hung from the convertible top frame.
Stuck to the glass on the left of the rear view mirror, hard-wired to the overhead interior lighting. I love mine set up that way.

Hard wiring is surprisingly easy. Even if your not mechanically inclined, it only takes an hour. There is an excellent how-to in the electronics forum.

My V1 is suctioned to the right of the mirror (Passenger side), and hardwired. I like it better on that side so it's as much out my line of sight as possible. I can't wait for Ricks V1 trim piece, as soon as it's available that's where my V1 will reside.

Wasn't there a mount before where they put the V1 in the secret compartment then cut a hole and filled it with glass? They then use the mini V1 and attached it into the mirror. That setup obstructs the rear as well, but was considered the best setup.
Yeah, i know which one you're talking about
one sec, I'll find it

Here in So. Cal lots of cops use Lazer at the front plate, I feel it may not work as well, mounted high
Ie. 1000 feet lazer at front plate only has 15 inch circle beam, Closer to the detector.

I even email the guy who test all the detectors. He said Highter for Ka better distance
lower for lazer, because it has a small beam up to 2000 feet, most lazer ticket are 700-900 feet

it seems like no one has read the owner's manual on mounting and positioning; It says to mount it as high as possible.

I've read "mount high"...I've read "mount low."

V1 recommends that their detectors are mounted as high as possible..so that's what I do.

I'm hard wired to the left of the rear view mirror.

I was under the assumption that by the time you've been alerted of a laser, they would've already gotten a reading.

If that's the case than Ka is way more important.

I don't think I've ever been shot with laser. I get false laser alerts frequently, though.

Ka is by far the most important band for me.

K and X are useless
